ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A child with a broken bicycle received a helping hand from a police sergeant in Beaver County.
The Aliquippa Police Department said one of their sergeants was patrolling the Plan 11 neighborhood on Monday when he noticed a group of children playing.
One of the boys in the group was having trouble with his bike and had to push himself along on his feet while trying to keep up with his friends.
The sergeant approached the boy and learned his chain had popped off. He took a few minutes to replace the bike chain and got the boy back on two wheels.
Police said the kids had a great conversation with the sergeant while the repair was underway, asking him lots of questions about his job.
“These simple moments are what community policing is all about. Taking a few minutes to lend a hand, talk with our young residents and share a few smiles can go a long way toward building positive relationships,” a spokesperson for the department said.
