Drivers urged to avoid road in New Castle after ‘major motor vehicle accident’

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Police are urging drivers to avoid a road in New Castle after a crash.

In a social media post, the New Castle Police Department says the “major motor vehicle accident” is located at Wilmington Road and Edison Avenue.

The road is expected to be closed for an “extended period of time,” police say.

A Lawrence County 911 supervisor says the crash was reported at 6:30 p.m. At least one person was taken to a hospital from the scene.
