A recall on frozen blueberries and berry blends has expanded.
According to a news release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. first recalled IQF blueberries and berry blends in July, and again in September, because of E. coli contamination concerns. Those recalls impacted products sold at Publix in eight Southern States.
Now, the recall has expanded again to include Great Value and Trader Joe’s brand products. The recalled Great Value products were soled in 30 states, including Pennsylvania. The recalled Trader Joe’s product was sold in 26 states, including Pennsylvania.
The specific products included in the expanded recall are as follows:

Consumers should check their freezers for the affected product. The FDA advises consumers not to eat the recalled frozen berries and to either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
E. Coli can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. The FDA says some infections can cause a serious complication called hemolytic uremic syndrome, particularly in young children, older adults and individuals with weakened immune systems.
