“We have other firefighters from other cities and towns from across the area that come up because they want to be apart of what Jimmy started and what Jimmy had so much influence in. We are going to miss him a ton,” said Tim Llewellyn who’s the Adams Area Fire Chief.
Jimmy Ellis Jr. was a 23 year veteran of Pittsburgh Fire, a military veteran and a husband and father.

“The words have been said over and over again, he’s a fireman’s fireman. In our world, that’s one of the ultimate compliments that can be given to a person,” Llewellyn said.
While he served the City of Pittsburgh, Jimmy was a Mars native and 4th generation firefighter for the Adams Area Volunteer Fire Department. As his family said their goodbyes, they drove him through his fire home one last time.
“It’s really difficult to look around the fire station and those fire trucks over there and not see anything he had a hand in. He was so influential in so many things from the hose we use to the gear we wear,” Llewellyn said.
These firefighters will never forget his impact as he will always be on their hearts and minds.
“What would Jimmy do because Jimmy kept us in line with everything,” Llewellyn said.
Jimmy joined the volunteer department in 1990 as a teenager and continued to stay an active member in Mars even while serving the city at his full time job.
