Pa. state health resources clinic opens in Darlington Township

DARLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — It’s day one of the state’s health resources clinic opening in Darlington Township and the parking lot is full as people head inside to get their questions answered.

“We were under that black cloud for a while and it’s concerning,” said Louis Wagoner who lives in Darlington Township.

It’s not just the health impacts, but the impacts to their daily lives which includes the air they breathe and water they drink.

“Scary just you didn’t know a lot of information with the grass the animals going out, we have a farm,” said Lina Watterson who lives in Darlington.

For the first time, they are seeing a light. The PA Department of Health opened a health resources clinic in the heart of the impact zone for Beaver County.

“A lot of people want to talk to DEP about water sampling and have questions about their water and their property. There are a lot of people seeking clinical care speaking to our nurses and the staff,” said Nate Wardle who’s the spokesperson for the center.

As residents walked out, they told Channel 11 they do have a sense of relief with promises of water testing in the next week or two for residents living in the two-mile zone of the derailment.

“He made me feel like my well was probably okay, but they are going to test it and that made me feel better,” Wagoner said.

The clinic will be open on weekdays from now through March 10th from 10am to 8pm and is open to anyone.
