PENN HILLS, Pa. — New federal funding will help replace a bridge in Penn Hills.
The Verona Road Bridge crosses Sandy Creek between Mount Carmel Road and Lincoln Road.
Tuesday, the township celebrated an $850,000 award to help fully replace the structure, a corridor for State Route 2058.
Officials say the project would improve deficiencies in the existing bridge, help traffic flow and slash maintenance costs.
“I’m proud that I secured $850,000 in federal funding to help replace and upgrade the bridge on Verona Road in Penn Hills,” Congressman Chris Deluzio (D-District 17) said. “Our community should have the best infrastructure out there, and I’m proud I could help Penn Hills and PennDOT do this important bridge replacement. I’ll always fight to bring home federal money to make life better for all of us in Western Pennsylvania.”
The award is part of Deluzio’s community funding project selections for the 2026 fiscal year.
PennDOT estimates the full project will cost $4.7 million. Construction would end in 2028.
