Peters Township man accused of stabbing fellow passenger in Uber

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — A Peters Township man is accused of stabbing another man inside an Uber.

The incident happened on Jan. 12, according to court documents. The Uber driver told police his two passengers got into a fight.

Court documents say Cavanagh had a folding knife that he used to stab the man in the upper chest during an Uber ride.

Police say the Uber driver picked up Cavanagh and the victim from the AC Hotel by Marriott in Southpointe. Police said he was taking them to the victim’s home in Lawrence and was near the intersection of Morganza and Georgetown Road when the two got into a fight in the backseat. A witness driving by also saw the fight happening and called 911.

Court documents said when police got to the area, they found Cavanagh walking away from the scene. They said he would not comply with their demands, and officers tased him. They later found the knife on the floor of the backseat in the Uber. They arrested Cavanagh, who is now in the Washington County Jail.

Channel 11 reached out to Uber. A spokesperson provided the following statement:
