PITTSBURGH — After an announced public-private investment of $600 million to help rejuvenate downtown last October, Jeremy Waldrup doesn’t hesitate to emphasize that more will be needed to fully resuscitate the Golden Triangle.
“We see that as a starting point for reinvestment,” said Waldrup, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.
Now, with the $600 million plan set to get going this year, converting and renovating seven buildings, adding upwards of 1,000 apartments, the PDP is unveiling its new Strategic Vision, an action plan for the next three years it expects to further its traditional role of cleaning up and keeping safe downtown streets while pursuing some broader goals as well.
The new Strategic Vision — the organization works to establish a new plan for every three years — is used on a community engagement process with perspectives from more than 100 downtown stakeholders, including corporate executives, developers and nonprofit leaders.
