Pittsburgh losing 26 bank branches in first half of 2023

PITTSBURGH — The cuts keep on coming.

Pittsburgh will have shed at least 26 bank branches during the first half of 2023 as Northwest Bank shuttered its site in Carnegie.

The combined pruning by five banks make for what appears to be a record six months of closures.

Northwest, the region’s 15th-largest bank, cut eight branches across three states; the local one was at 242 E. Main Street in Carnegie, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities. Over the past two years, Northwest has reduced its locations in the 10-county Pittsburgh metro by 25% to 18.
