PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Marathon runners did not let the cold and snow stop them from training for this year’s marathon.
The DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon will be held on May 2-4.
More than 40,000 people are expected to attend.
Some of those runners gathered at P3R headquarters on the North Shore to participate in the official kick-off event for their training.
P3R is a non-profit organization with the goal of keeping Pittsburgh moving.
“The Training Kick-off Event is a true testament to the resilience and passion of our running community,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “Seeing over 250 runners come together despite the cold and snow to start their journey toward marathon weekend is incredibly inspiring. This is just the beginning of what promises to be an unforgettable 2025 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend of Events, where participants of all ages and abilities will achieve their goals and celebrate the spirit of Pittsburgh.’”
A group of runners did either a 5K or a 10K at various paces.
