All after-school and afternoon activities are canceled, with exceptions for some football games.
Football game spectators must be 18 years old or older, and no loitering will be permitted. An additional police and security presence will be in place at those games.
Spectators at Cupples Stadium must stay in the stands and cannot stand or gather in walkways or corridors, Walters said.
Pittsburgh Perry’s football game will proceed as Senior Night, and families may attend.
Walters stressed these restrictions are designed to uphold the priority of students, families and staff safety.
“We continue to be deeply concerned about the violence that occurred Thursday evening outside Cupples Stadium following a football game. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted, especially the three young people who were among the victims,” Walters said.
The superintendent encouraged the community to support one another as the district and police navigate through the incident.
“We know moments like this can be frightening and unsettling. Please take care of one another, and know that Pittsburgh Public Schools is committed to keeping our students and families safe and informed.” Walters said.
Pittsburgh Public Schools released a broader statement in response to the shooting Friday morning.
