PITTSBURGH — The Urban Redevelopment Authority has sold 12 Hill District properties to a Pittsburgh-based firm that wants to build a development with affordable housing, restaurants and gallery space.
The plans for the development, which will be called Rhythm Square, include gallery space, micro-restaurants, live-work space and affordable housing, the Trib said.
Details on the number of housing units the development will include are not available at this time.
The plans include renovating two vacant buildings on Centre Avenue, as the former Home Improvement Warehouse and Centre Builders Supply Lumber Co. buildings will become the new headquarters for Studio Volcy.
The project received a $500,000 grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank Board.
There is no timetable yet on when construction will begin.
