HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Trash collection prices are going up in a Beaver County community.

Hopewell Township officials say Valley Waste’s bid for future trash collection is significantly higher than in previous years, around 65% more.

This means homeowners will go from paying just over $56 per quarter for trash collection to $93 per quarter.

“Landfill prices have skyrocketed, which includes fuel moving the waste, and hourly wages. hourly wages have really gone up. and the prices of vehicles, and maintenance and parts. it’s just all across the board, everything has gone up,” said Jamie Yurcina, Hopewell Township manager.

This also means that trash collection will no longer be unlimited. Instead, residents will have a two can limit and one bulky item per month.
