Career and tech students create metal picture frames for Westmoreland County parks

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — “Picture” yourself in a Westmoreland park this summer in celebration of the county’s 250th anniversary!

Career and technical students made metal photo frames for six parks across the county for people to enjoy.

“We wanted to create a landmark for residents and visitors to enjoy, not only this year but in many years to come,” said Jessica Petrovich, director of Discover Westmoreland. “We hope that residents and visitors alike will visit all six metal photo frames, especially throughout the summer months, and take the time to enjoy the gorgeous county parks that we are blessed with here in Westmoreland County. Each photo frame creates a beautiful backdrop for a picture, and we encourage folks to pose with the frames and capture some great memories.”

Visitors are encouraged to snap a photo with the frames and share it on social media with #Westmoreland250.

The different locations are:

  • Twin Lakes on the path from the island stage toward the boathouse
  • Cedar Creek between the boat launch at the Youghiogheny River and the entrance to the Cedar Creek Gorge Trail
  • Mammoth between pavilion no. 11 and the boathouse building along the lake
  • Northmoreland by the lake between the handicapped-accessible fishing dock
  • Historic Hanna’s Town
  • Swede Hill, adjacent to the pavilion
