EDGEWOOD, Pa. — The wife of a UPMC doctor who was killed in a stabbing has been released from the hospital.
Allegheny County Police confirmed on Wednesday that Gina Evans is out of the hospital.
She was injured when Elijah Hemingway, 32, broke into her home in Edgewood and stabbed her and her husband while they were sleeping, police say.

Gina Evans was critically injured, but rushed to get her children safely out of the house.
Her husband, Idris Evans, fought back against Hemingway. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Hemingway was taken into custody and charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and criminal trespass.
