Woman found shot on Pittsburgh sidewalk; another woman charged

Knox Avenue Shooting

PITTSBURGH — A woman was rushed to a hopsital after she was shot in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood early Friday morning.

At around 1:15 a.m., officers responded to reports of a woman shot during a domestic incident inside an apartment in the 80 block of Knox Avenue.

When police arrived, they found a woman who had been shot in the chest outside on the sidewalk, along with another woman, later identified as her ex-girlfriend Jazmine Brown, who was with her.

When officers asked Brown what happened, she told them, “I shot her,” according to the criminal complaint.

Officers began administering first aid to the victim and performed CPR until medics arrived. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but later upgraded to stable.

According to the complaint, Brown said the victim came at her with a knife or a pair of scissors, but detectives found no evidence to support that claim.

Brown was charged with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Pittsburgh Police detectives continue to investigate.
