Parents demanding answers after they claim teacher allowed man with criminal record volunteer at school

NORTH HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Parents of Norwin Middle School students are demanding answers after they claim a teacher allowed someone with a criminal record around their children

Brad Geyer is currently banned from Norwin School District property after he failed to notify school officials of his criminal record.

Justin Galloway is one of more than a dozen parents demanding answers from the Norwin School Board. They’re upset that Geyer was allowed around their children during the rehearsals and production of the play Frozen Jr.

“I’m very angry and upset that it doesn’t seem like Norwin is taking this as seriously as it should be taken,” Galloway said.

According to our partners at the Trib, Geyer plead guilty to giving alcohol to minors and corruption of minors in 2019.

Galloway said the director of the play put him in a leadership role over the students ages 12 to 14 years old.

“He was in the changing room directing them how to do portions of the play that made them feel uncomfortable personally," said Galloway.

″We are required to get clearances from both our employees and volunteers and those clearances are good for five year periods," said Trish Andrews, solicitor of Norwin School District.

Galloway said this is really the teachers fault.

“A director of the play who is supposed to take our children’s safety paramount everyday of their life would make such a poor decision," Galloway said.
