Police: Man wearing clown mask attacked teen with bat

KARNS CITY, Pa. — Police are searching for a person wearing a clown mask who lured and attacked a teenager in Butler County on Saturday.

Police said the 17-year-old said he was lured into a wooded area along Hooker Road in Karns City after hearing a woman scream.

Investigators said a man wearing a clown mask appeared with a baseball bat and hit the boy on the knee.

“I can’t believe something like that would happen here, but I guess it did, and that’s just crazy,” said resident Liz Parker.

According to state police, the teen told them he was assaulted in woods very close to his home.

“We are investigating after the victim told us he heard a woman scream,” said Trooper Dan Kesten. “It was coming from the wooded area. He went into check and saw the person with the clown mask.”

A neighbor told Channel 11 he saw the teen limping along Kittanning Pike and helped him get home.

“That’s a pretty dumb thing to do: wear a clown mask that could get somebody really hurt, even shot, by doing something like that,” said resident Mel Dunlap.

State police say they haven’t heard of any other crimes like this and have no suspects at this time.
