TUALATIN, Ore. — The actor who once starred as the friend an alien in "E.T. in the Extra-Terrestrial" has been arrested on a DUI charge in Oregon.
TMZ reported officials with the Tualatin Police Department said they received a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. Monday reporting a motorist in a stationary vehicle in the middle of an intersection.
When police arrived, they saw the driver, 48-year-old actor Henry Thomas, who played Elliot in the 1982 Steven Spielberg film, behind the wheel. He was passed out and officers had to wake him up, according to the tabloid site.
KGW reported Thomas was taken to the Washington County Jail and faces a misdemeanor DUI charge.
He was released at 9:30 a.m.Tuesday on his own recognizance, TMZ reported.
In addition to "E.T.," Thomas also acted in a number of other movies, including 1994's "Legends of the Fall" and 2002's "Gangs of New York."
