Mostly dry, but cool on Wednesday in Pittsburgh area

PITTSBURGH — We’re finally going to shake the rainy pattern and get a well-deserved period to dry out.

There will still be a stray shower or two today, but the bulk of the day will be rain-free. It will once again be cool with highs in the mid-60s.

Low temperatures will drop into the 40s the next several nights as cool, early-autumn air grips the region. Thursday night should be the coldest night, with some of the deeper valleys seeing temperatures drop into the upper 30s.

Temperatures will slowly moderate toward the weekend with a good deal of sunshine. Most of the area will be back in the low 70s by the weekend.
