PITTSBURGH — Our stretch of beautiful, dry weather continues today with plentiful sunshine and slightly warmer-than-average temperatures. Most of us should reach highs near 70 this afternoon before cooling off into the upper 40s tonight.
Isaias is now a major Category 3 Hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph. It is expected to make landfall near Pensacola, Fla., this evening before pushing north and weakening with time.
The outermost clouds from Isaias will move overhead late tonight and Saturday morning before gradually thickening throughout the day. The earliest we will see any rain is late Saturday evening, with the steadiest rain coming Sunday morning. It won’t be a total washout, with a gradual transition from rain to widely scattered showers by the afternoon.
We’ll see another wave of showers Sunday evening as the center of the storm passes through, but most of Monday should end up dry. An approaching cold front may bring us a few more showers through Tuesday into Wednesday.
