O’Hara Township council approves 1st reading of ordinance allowing backyard chickens

O'HARA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — O’Hara Township is one step closer to allowing backyard chickens.

At a meeting Tuesday night, council members approved the first reading of a proposed ordinance allowing the animals.

Property owners would need a permit and a chicken coop. The coop would have to be in a backyard.

The number of chickens a homeowner could have would depend on the size of their property.
