Man killed in crash on Route 422 in Butler County

BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — A man died in a crash involving a motorcycle on Route 422 in Butler County on Thursday.

All westbound lanes were closed between Exit PA 68 towards Jefferson Street and Exit PA 8 North towards Harrisville. The lanes reopened just before 5:30 p.m.

Butler Township police said a motorcycle was traveling in the westbound lanes after a truck carrying an oversized load knocked down some wires.

While trying to avoid the wires, the motorcycle went into the guard rail.

The man has not been identified.

“I didn’t believe it, didn’t wanna believe it anyway,” a friend of the victim said. “He was a really safe rider. He watched what he was doing, he didn’t try to push it.”

One person was taken to the hospital from the scene, according to dispatchers.
