Pittsburgh Solar Eclipse Forecast: Will you be able to see the big show today?

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The big day is finally here! But the million-dollar question is will you be able to see the eclipse today?

Mostly cloudy skies continue across western Pennsylvania this morning, with a few showers still possible before noon.

There have been some positive trends in the cloud cover forecast with the back edge of low to mid-level clouds trending a bit faster. As of 8 a.m., parts of central and even eastern Ohio are already seeing breaks, with some of that headed our way by lunchtime.

Clouds won’t completely exit, but there should be “pockets” of more favorable viewing conditions in our area, especially northwest of Pittsburgh. Still, it looks as though the most ideal viewing zone near us will be over northern or central Ohio, where low clouds will exit and high, thin cirrus clouds won’t be as prevalent.

Remember, the eclipse will begin around 2 p.m. with maximum coverage around 3:15 pm.
