Man arrested after SWAT responds to incident in Crawford-Roberts

PITTSBURGH — A man is in custody after an incident in Pittsburgh’s Crawford-Roberts neighborhood that prompted a SWAT response.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Protectory Place and Wylie Avenue just before 7 p.m. following multiple calls for a man with a gun and shots fired, Pittsburgh police said.

Police said the man ran into a home and barricaded himself inside. He was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m.

Medics evaluated a woman and two kids who were inside the home at the time. They were not hurt.

Residents from neighboring apartments were safely evacuated during the incident.
