Because of the severity of impacts around the Oakdale area, the National Weather Service upgraded to a small Catastrophic/Flash Flood Emergency in portions of Washington and Allegheny Counties.

UPDATE 6:45 p.m.:

Moon police are advising residents to limit travel as crews work to clear roadways due to excessive rain.

UPDATE 6:39 p.m.:

The National Weather Service extends the Flash Flood Warning for Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Washington counties until 12:30 a.m.

Many nearby residents received an emergency alert on their cell phones, calling the situation dangerous. The National Weather Service is advising people in these areas not to travel unless they are fleeing a flooded area.

UPDATE 5:45 p.m.:

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for parts of Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties until 9:30 p.m. and for parts of Allegheny and Washington counties until 10 p.m.

A wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Thursday for Westmoreland, Fayette, Indiana, the ridges of Preston and for Garrett County. Sustained winds in the area will be 20-25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Make sure to secure items, winds could bring down trees and cause power outages.

Behind this it will be cooler Friday with rain showers and gusty winds. Winds could gust could reach up to 40 mph with clearing expected through the day on Saturday. The dry weather won’t stick around long, the next chance for rain and thunder is possible again by the end of the weekend.
