Tariffs may force ATI to close Midland facility, layoff workers

MIDLAND, Pa. — Allegheny Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ATI) will consider idling its Midland, Pennsylvania facility and layoff employees there, according to an op-ed submitted to the Wall Street Journal by ATI CEO Robert Wetherbee.

The possible downsizing comes in response to tariffs on steel imports, and Wetherbee called for an exemption to the tariffs for ATI, in the article.
