PITTSBURGH — Duquesne University on Wednesday announced the largest gift in the school’s 144-year history — A $50 million gift from prominent Philadelphia lawyer Thomas R. Kline.

“To say that he’s outdone himself is an understatement,” Ken Gormley, Duquesne president, said. “In recognition of that remarkable gift, with the enthusiastic support of our board of directors, we are today renaming the law school as the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University.”

It is the first school to be named at the university in three decades.
