SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The manager of the Rodeway Inn in South Strabane Township says he is lucky to be alive after police say a man put a knife to his throat and threatened to kill him during an attempted robbery.
He showed us where he says the suspect had been hiding, behind an ice machine.
When the manager went to see where the man had gone, he says the suspect lunged at him with a large knife. The two fought before police say the suspect put the knife to the manager’s throat, held him to the ground and demanded money.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Daryle Forman Jr. of Ohio, told the manager, “Give me your money or I’ll f***ing kill you.”
The manager was taken to the hospital to be checked for injuries. He was back at work Thursday.
He told Channel 11 this is the fourth or fifth time something like this has happened at the motel, but said this was one of the two most frightening incidents.
Police arrested Forman and Denver Findley, who police say was in the vehicle.
A witness captured video of the arrests, which happened in the middle of the road after officers quickly shut down traffic.
Police say they also found numerous items of drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle, including a syringe, stamp bags and other plastic bags containing suspected drugs.
Police also say Forman shouted that the knife used in the robbery was still inside the vehicle.
