Monongahela Incline to close temporarily for cable hitch adjustment

PITTSBURGH — The Monongahela Incline in Pittsburgh will temporarily close for routine maintenance.

According to Pittsburgh Regional Transit, the incline will close at the end of regular service Tuesday. It’s expected to reopen by noon Wednesday.

Crews will adjust one of the incline’s cable hitches, which connect the passenger cars to the operating and safety cables, PRT says.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry will inspect the incline before it reopens.

PRT will operate shuttle buses during the closure.
