After the joint venture bought and rebranded a building at 700 Technology Dr. at the Pittsburgh Technology Center long-known for housing Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center two years ago, The University Financing Foundation (TUFF) and Collaborative Real Estate are rolling out a new life sciences coworking venture in the building that may be the first of its kind in the region.

The Atlanta-based partners announced BenchBridge Labs, offering life sciences and materials science startups the kind of move-in ready wet lab and dry lab space options with a full array of equipment to pursue their ventures on flexible terms in a building now called Hot Metal Labs.

In a prepared statement, Kevin Byrne, president and CEO of TUFF, called BenchBridge Labs “a manifestation of support” for Pittsburgh’s “robust innovation and discovery ecosystem and adding that the new life science coworking space will “build on existing strengths in the region.”
