WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting the first case of measles in Westmoreland County this year.
It is not immediately clear where in the county the case was found.
As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, the Department of Health reported 424 total cases of measles.
Nearby Indiana County has reported eight cases.
On Tuesday, a case was also confirmed in Butler County.

Last week, a child treated at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Allegheny County tested positive for measles after being in the emergency department on Aug. 12 and 18. That individual was unvaccinated and is not from Allegheny County.

State officials say two unvaccinated Lancaster County residents died from measles-associated causes.
These are the first measles-related deaths recorded in Pennsylvania in 35 years.
State health officials advised anyone experiencing symptoms or suspecting exposure to contact a health care provider or call the Department of Health toll-free hotline at 877-PA-HEALTH (877-724-3258).
