Remnants of Hurricane Isaias to bring soaking rain Sunday

PITTSBURGH — The remnants of Hurricane Isaias are set to sweep into the Pittsburgh area this weekend, bringing a soaking rain Sunday that could put a damper on outdoor plans.

Severe Weather Team 11 is tracking the heaviest rain.is tracking the heaviest rain during the day Sunday, with periods of steady heavy downpours possible. This tropical moisture will make for a gray, wet day across the region, so if you have events planned outside, be prepared for interruptions.

In addition to the rain, gusty winds up to 25 mph are expected, adding an extra chill to the damp conditions. Isolated thunderstorms could also develop, bringing brief bursts of heavier rain and occasional lightning. The combination of wind and rain may make travel more difficult, especially for those driving on wet roads or walking in exposed areas.

Localized flooding is a concern, particularly in poor drainage areas and where storm drains become clogged with leaves and debris. Have the Severe Weather Team 11 app handy for the latest alerts, watches, and warnings.
