Citizens is closing its long-time Shadyside branch inside the Giant Eagle supermarket at 5550 Centre Ave. and relocating it to bigger, standalone space in the same neighborhood. In fact, it will move to 5508 Walnut St. in a matter of months.
“We’re currently targeting late Q4 2026/early Q1 2027 for the relocation,” Citizens confirmed via email on Friday.
Citizens filed an application with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Sept. 4 to close the Giant Eagle branch, roughly a year after requesting the regulator’s approval to relocate it.
The new site had been the address of an Apple Store that closed in 2024. It was vacated when Apple took different space at 5436 Walnut St., previously home to the Gap, where it re-opened on August 9, 2025.
