Robert Morris University is adding NCAA Division I men’s wrestling as its newest varsity athletics program. The team is expected to begin competition in the 2027-28 academic year.

Men’s wrestling will become the university’s 20th varsity sport and will continue creating new opportunities for student-athletes throughout Western Pennsylvania and nationwide.

“Western Pennsylvania’s wrestling tradition has been built by generations of outstanding athletes, dedicated coaches and passionate families,” Dr. Ron Moses said, vice president and director of athletics at Robert Morris University. “Adding men’s wrestling at Robert Morris gives talented student-athletes another opportunity to compete at the Division I level close to home while earning an outstanding education.”

University officials said the new program is positioned to connect with regional wrestling communities while recruiting student-athletes from across the nation.

Additional details regarding the program’s coaching staff, competition schedule, home venue and conference affiliation will be announced as plans are finalized ahead of the inaugural season.
