MANOR TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police have shared new information about a bank robbery Thursday in Armstrong County.
The robbery at NexTier Bank along Burton Drive was reported to Armstrong 911 at 9:31 a.m., according to Manor Township police.
A person reportedly brandished a gun and received an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing in an ATV.
No bank employees were hurt, police say, though officers utilized crisis intervention training to help them.
Police learned the suspect’s identity and safely arrested the suspect at a Kittanning Township home.
Local schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution, police say, adding there’s no danger to the community.
Court records obtained by Channel 11 identify the suspect as Robert Mitchell Beers Jr., 57.
Beers is charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and carrying a gun without a license.
He’s being held in the Armstrong County prison. Bail is set at $50,000.
The Armstrong County Detective Bureau, Armstrong County District Attorney’s Office, Armstrong County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, Kittanning Borough Police, PSP Troop D Kittanning and PSP SERT assisted Manor Township police.
