MURRYSVILLE, Pa. — Volunteers from Pittsburgh-area Sam’s Club stores worked to get the Miracle League Field in Murrysville clean for the season.
The event was part of Sam Club’s Day of Service which is when associates, from stores around the country participate in local volunteer activities within their communities.
The store members teamed up with The Miracle League of Western Pa., an organization that focuses on helping people with special needs enjoy the excitement of playing a sport.
“Our mission is simple: Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play! We will provide the facilities, programs and people needed to let this happen for the special children we serve,” said the Miracle League of Western Pa. on their website.
Workers got the field ready and then stuck around for the first games of the season. Some members pitched to the kids or helped coach for the night.
Volunteers also presented a $5,000 grant from Sam’s Club and Walmart Foundation to the Miracle League of Western Pa.
