Soup kit sold at Pennsylvania Walmart stores recalled over possible Listeria contamination

A soup kit sold at Walmart stores in Pennsylvania was recalled over possible Listeria contamination.

Kettle Cuisine LLC recalled its Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kit last week because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the Food and Drug Administration announced.

The recalled product was sold between June 30 and July 7 at Walmart stores across the country, including in Pennsylvania. The kits have a UPC of 194346474004 and a use-by date of Aug. 22.

The recall was initiated after routine testing produced a presumptive positive result for Listeria monocytogenes. To date, Kettle Cuisine LLC has received no confirmed reports of illnesses associated with the kit.

Anyone who has the soup kit should not consume it. Either throw it away or return it for a refund.

Listeria contamination can cause infections that could prove deadly to young children, frail or elderly people or those with a weakened immune system. Healthy people may only have short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain or diarrhea. If a pregnant woman contracts a Listeria infection, it can cause miscarriage or a stillbirth.
