Restaurant owner thankful for increased capacity, wants bar seating to be next

PITTSBURGH — Even though patrons can now buy three alcoholic drinks with food, the owner at the Foundry said he would really like to have bar seating back open.

“It’s frustrating. I don’t see how it’s that hard to communicate to everybody what the restrictions are, what they aren’t," Andrew Stackiewicz said.

Stackiewicz, co-owner of the Foundry Table and Tap said he did not know the limit on alcohol beverages was lifted. He said he would like to see better communication from county officials to business owners.

“If we are allowed to give more drinks, then we need more to-go cups and stuff like that,” he said. “It’s not going to make that big of a difference. The problem I have is we do a lot of private parties and the restriction of 25 people only for private parties is what really hinders me the most.”

“I think it’s very exciting because I get to see my friends more. I get to be out and about more,” said Kiah Lowe.

“I live in Texas right now. It’s really interesting to see the difference between the state of Pennsylvania, specifically Pittsburgh and Austin, Texas,” Molly Koch said.

Koch, visiting from Texas, said she can do more in Pittsburgh than back home.

“Bars are completely closed. Restaurants are very limited. I don’t know if there is an exact drink limit, but I believe it’s two or three right now and the COVID-19 cases are still rising much faster than Pittsburgh,” she said.

This will be the first full weekend bars and restaurants will be open at 50% capacity.
