PITTSBURGH — The City of Pittsburgh is extending hours at several community rec centers to help accommodate students participating in remote learning this week.
Pittsburgh Public Schools announced students who attend class in any of 35 buildings will attend online classes Tuesday through Thursday because of expected high temperatures.

Pittsburgh Public Schools students are learning remotely for several days this week because of high temperatures.
City officials announced Monday evening that students are welcome to bring their devices or work packets to rec centers on those days if they need a place to learn and study.
Seven rec centers have had their hours extended to better accommodate student schedules, opening at 8 a.m. Those locations are:
- Ammon Recreation Center
- 2217 Bedford Avenue, 15219
- Brookline Recreation Center
- 1400 Oakridge Street, 15226
- Jefferson Recreation Center
- 605 Redknap Street, 15212
- Magee Recreation Center
- 745 Greenfield Avenue, 15217
- Paulson Recreation Center
- 1201 Paulson Avenue, 15206
- Phillips Recreation Center
- 201 Parkfield Street, 15210
- West Penn Recreation Center
- 450 30th Street, 15219
All other rec centers will operate on their usual schedules.
Families are asked to drop students off in-person and to fill out a required emergency contact information form.
