PITTSBURGH — The City of Pittsburgh is ready to get spooky!

City officials announced the dates for Trick-or-Treat and other Halloween events.

When is trick-or-treat in the City of Pittsburgh?

Residents can prepare to have creepy, cool, cute and creative characters at their doors on Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. That’s when kids will be seeking candy for the official Trick-or-Treat event.

“Pittsburghers love to celebrate Halloween and all of the fun annual community traditions for our kids, families and neighbors,” said Mayor O’Connor. “I want to thank the community organizations who host events and our whole City and CitiParks team for being creative and coming up with fun new ways to bring our neighborhoods together. Let’s all do our part to make sure our kids have a safe and fun Halloween.”

How can trick-or-treaters stay safe?

Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to follow these safety tips:

  • Include reflective tape, stickers or clip-on lights on costumes and bags for visibility.
  • Make sure children can properly see through masks or make-up for safe street crossing.
  • Check costumes to make sure there aren’t obstructions that could cause trips or falls.
  • Keep an eye on the weather forecast and dress appropriately for a more comfortable evening.
  • Walk on sidewalks rather than in the streets; watch for vehicles and parents should assist children when crossing streets.
  • Carry lights or flashlights for additional visibility.

Anyone driving during the trick-or-treat hours is asked to use additional caution, care and vigilance.
