McKesson Distribution Center in Shenango Township closes after nearly 25 years

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A major employer in Lawrence County shut its doors on Thursday.

The McKesson Distribution Center closed after nearly 25 years of operation in Shenango Township.

The company gave notice of the closure in September.

Officials tell 11 News that 150 jobs were directly affected, but the impact goes further.

“I think the sadder thing even is it’s not just the McKesson employees that we lost. There were a few local supply chain businesses that we’ve lost as well,” said Diane Richardson, the assistant director of Lawrence County Economic Development. “It’s really hard. Especially for a community like Lawrence County, which is basically a rural community.

McKesson still owns the building. Officials said getting the building sold and filled is a top priority.
