Pittsburgh Penguins agree to $24.4 million contract extension with Evgeni Malkin

PITTSBURGH — Evgeni Malkin will continue to play for the Pittsburgh Penguins for at least four more years.

Team general manager Ron Hextall announced that Malkin agreed to a $24.4 million contract extension with the team.

The deal begins with in the 2022-2023 season and runs through 2025-2026.

The forward will make around $6.1 million per year.

“Evgeni is a generational talent who will be remembered as one of the greatest players in NHL history,” said Hextall. “His hockey resume and individual accomplishments speak volumes about him as a player, and we are thrilled to watch him continue his remarkable legacy in Pittsburgh.”

Malkin has won three Stanley Cup Champions with the team and ranks in the top-5 in team history in most statistical categories including games played, goals and assists.
