FOX CHAPEL, Pa. — It was not a typical football Friday at Fox Chapel High School.
There were no cheerleaders on the sidelines, no students in the stands and no marching bands providing the evening’s soundtrack.
According to a joint statement from the Fox Chapel and Woodland Hills School Districts, the decision was made to restrict attendance after an “unspecified threat reported via the Safe2Say system.”
Safe2Say is an anonymous online youth violence reporting system.
The districts also promised a heightened police presence at the game for those who could go.
It’s the second high school football game to face restrictions like this this month.
The Penn Hills - Gateway game had limited attendance following a “potential threat” made via Safe2Say.
Channel 11 has also reported extensively on bomb threats made against Freedom Area School District.
Yesterday, the FBI announced it was involved in the investigation.
All of this comes after an August shooting outside South Allegheny’s football stadium. No one was hurt, and a 17-year-old is now charged as an adult.

Channel 11 spoke to students who told us they were planning to go to the Fox Chapel - Woodland Hills game and were disappointed in the decision.
A woman who lives across the street from Fox Chapel High School didn’t blame the districts for restricting attendance.
“They are only trying to protect everybody. It’s a terrible thing because young people enjoy this. This is their big night of the week,” she said. “People are just irresponsible. They don’t care about anyone else. To ruin things for youngsters is probably one of the worst things they can do.”
