Shelby Cassesse joined the Channel 11 sports department full-time in March 2026 after freelancing with the team for over two years. She has spent the majority of her career covering Pittsburgh sports and news. Born in Butler, Pennsylvania and raised in Crystal Lake, Illinois, Shelby grew up watching and playing sports. She set her sights on sports journalism after joining her high school yearbook staff. She returned to Pittsburgh to attend college at Duquesne University, where she became the first student in school history to be nominated for a Collegiate Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award. She later earned her MBA at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Duquesne, Shelby began her television career in Bridgeport, West Virginia as a sports anchor and reporter. There, she covered WVU athletics, as well as several other local colleges and high schools. Prior to joining the Channel 11, Shelby spent over five years with Audacy Pittsburgh, working with both KDKA Radio and 93.7 The Fan in several different roles. In 2021, she became The Fan's first consistent female show host. Shelby is driven by impactful storytelling. She won her first Mid-Atlantic Emmy in 2025 for her coverage of a local Olympian and his family's journey to find a missing loved one killed during World War II. Her work has also been recognized with several Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasting awards. In her spare time, Shelby loves to travel, read, channel her inner Ina Garten and spend time with her loved ones.
